Eggnog Recipes

Developing eggnog recipes is one of my favorite pastimes. With our busy schedules sometimes it is difficult to get the proper nutrition that our bodies need to maintain healthy energy levels. We are constantly bombarded by contagious diseases carried to us by our friends and the strangers that we encounter on a daily basis. If our energy levels are low then we are prone to catching these diseases. One of the ways I have found to combat this intrusion into my life is by adding eggnog to my daily diet.

Eggnog is rich in calcium, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B1 and B2, potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, vitamin D, and numerous other vitamins, and supplies all of the essential amino acids that are needed to maintain healthy bodies. Choline is also found in eggs which is essential for brain development and should be included in all pregnant women’s and nursing mothers’ diets.

Eggnog recipes have given me the advantage of adding all those nutrient rich things to my diet the natural way. I am able to vary the taste by selecting different seasonings such as vanilla, cinnamon or cloves. By creating eggnog in my home I avoid the preservatives that commercial producers must include in their products in order to keep the products safe while they sit on the supermarket shelf during the holiday season. It is even achievable to avoid the possibility of salmonella contamination by cooking the eggnog to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes the eggnog safe and helps to preserve it for longer storage in the refrigerator.

My diabetic friends and those who were struggling to lose weight helped me to develop an eggnog that had fewer calories so that they too could enjoy its benefits. I like to start the day, especially in the cold winter, with warm eggnog. This not only gives my body a quick energy boost but the enticing smell sooths my spirit with memories of holidays when laughter was always in the air.

Summer can be one of the busiest times and the need for a quick breakfast or easy lunch can relieve our hectic schedule. By keeping fresh or frozen strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries close at hand we can blend up a nutritious and taste dazzling drink in just a few moments. Just add a handful of the fruit of your choice to a cup of eggnog, blend, and get a tasteful pick-me-up any time of the day.

Cheers to a healthier lifestyle!
